Thoughts

>> you will probably not ever see a liberal Supreme Court in your life. <<

*shrug* It hasn't been a legitimate legal body since Obama was denied his right to appoint a judge there. I told people this shit would happen, they didn't believe me, now here we are -- and they're actively making it worse. I have no sympathy.

>> we are so fucked on climate change–Trump is a climate arsonist at the best of times.<<

Ooo, I love that phrase! "Climate arsonist" is a good one. But if people think that environmental foreclosure sending billions of refugees fleeing poleward sounds like a good idea, well, they've made their choices.

>> you are literally counting on market forces to save us here, because the government sure as fuck won’t.<<

People do still have some leverage. Most have free choice among the foods sold in their locale, so they could decide to reduce or eliminate cow products -- cows being the worst livestock for the planet.

>> the prognosis for labor unions and antitrust is real bad.<<

*chuckle* They're forgetting their labor history. Me, I was raised by hippie public school teachers, who made sure I knew about things like the Mob connections. If people really want to go back to settling labor disputes in back alleys with baseball bats, I'm sure there are unions that will be happy to review that history lesson with them.

>>and–this was the issue with the least delta between candidates, but–i’m now absolutely confident Palestine is fucked, and we are now locked into watching literally millions of Palestinians get actively killed by a Trump-supported Israel and Gaza annexed and settled. <<

Also we have a severely traumatized nuclear state that's already looking outside of Palestine for its next targets. There is no enough, there is only MORE.

>> all in all: it is going to be bad. it is going to be really bad. it is not doomer to say that, and sugarcoating it is unhelpful.<<

My first response is here:

I still need to find time to write a piece on how to deal with 3C+ climate change.

>> harm reduction by vote is over. we’re now doing harm triage for the next four years. <<

I figure humans made their choices, and the next time a hurricane slams into the Red Coast I will shrug and be busy elsewhere. I have plenty of other causes to work on, like lifeboating what I can of the biosphere.

>> letting yourself and your activism be steered by the moment. <<

Eh, I've had mine picked long since. If I see someone else doing something useful, I might pitch in, but mostly I'm just not a joiner. My opinion of people has been in a ditch for years, has plummeted in the last 5 or so, and now they're all "So what if we hit bedrock? I found a fracking drill!" 0_o Whatever.

>> the next four years are probably going to be quite bad, and being in an organization will provide you the best opportunities to do meaningful things.<<

I prefer doing meaningful things in my back yard. This spring, bald eagles mated over it. I find that a lot more flattering that what humans think. YMMV
